Edward Newgate, better known as Whitebeard, is a prominent figure from the anime and manga series One Piece. He captained the Whitebeard Pirates, a powerful and influential crew, and was widely recognized as one of the strongest men in the world, rivaling even the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger.

Whitebeard possessed the Tremor-Tremor Fruit (Gura Gura no Mi), a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit granting him the ability to create powerful vibrations, allowing him to generate earthquakes and tsunamis. He was renowned for his immense physical strength, durability, and mastery of Haki.

Unlike many pirates driven by a lust for treasure, Whitebeard's primary goal was to create a family and protect those he considered his sons. He viewed his crew members as his children, offering them shelter and unwavering loyalty. He met his end during the Marineford War, sacrificing himself to ensure the safety and escape of his crew and ultimately, to spark a new era of piracy.
